Six capitals threaten to block the EU budget unless hundreds of billions go

Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, Denmark, Finland and Sweden call the Commission's €1.9 trillion plan "simply not realistic". Even if leaders reach a deal, the European Parliament may refuse to sign it.
